Hotel SØMA Ilulissat is a small scale hotel with a total of 22 rooms and about 4-5 employees during the main season. As our junior manager, you will become a big part of our daily operations which includes the following tasks:
- Management with everyday operations together with the hotel host
- Administration
- Room cleaning
- Preparing the breakfast buffet
As we are a small team, you will also have phone shifts when you are responsible for answering all requests or management shifts where you are on call, ready to assist your colleagues that might need help answering a request or similar.
You will work closely with our hotel host who will be your supervisor and responsible.
You are:
- A mature and bold person
- Fit naturally in new teams
- Service minded
- Have finished high school (mandatory)
- Has driving license B and can drive our minibus (mandatory)
- Speaks well english
- Basic IT skills
It is an advantage if you have a previous experience from the hotel industry.
Small hotel – close community
Hotel SØMA Ilulissat is a hotel in one of Greenland’s most loved tourist destinations, Ilulissat. With over 50 years of experience, we are a part of one of the eldest hotel chains in Greenland. We have a small team of three people in Ilulissat and two more during a high season. Hotel SØMA is a non-profit hotel, and one of our employees is a Port Chaplain that works away from the hotel, closely with local seafarers and fishermen.
We start every morning with a small prayer which we believe is a positive start of a day.
Many adventures to come
Ilulissat is the third biggest town in Greenland, with a lot of possibilities to truly experience the country. You can see and admire the majestic icebergs around Ilulissat Icefjord, walk the routes in the UNESCO area or hike north to the Oquaatsut settlement. During the winter there are great conditions for cross country skiing or snow mobile rides. Ilulissat has frequent connection by boat, plane or helicopter to the remaining settlements in the Diskobay area which makes it very easy to visit also other parts of Greenland. Ilulissat has a rich cultural life with many associations, cafes, and museums, where you can meet other people.
